Welcome to Lakehead University Formula SAE Race Car Team!
We are thrilled to have you join us on this exciting journey. Our team was established in 2007 and since then, we have been competing against over one hundred other university teams from all around the world. Our ultimate goal every year is to participate in the prestigious Formula SAE competition at the Michigan International Speedway. We are able to achieve this through the generous sponsorship and donations from companies and individuals who believe in our mission.
Our Mission and Goals
At Lakehead University Formula SAE Race Car Team, our mission is to provide students with a unique hands-on experience in designing, building, and racing a formula-style race car. Through this project, we aim to enhance our members’ engineering skills, foster teamwork and leadership abilities, and prepare them for successful careers in the automotive industry.
Each year, we set ambitious goals for ourselves. Our primary objective is to design and build a high-performance race car that meets the stringent requirements of the Formula SAE competition. This involves optimizing various aspects of the car, including its weight, speed, acceleration, and handling. We strive to push the boundaries of innovation and technology to create a vehicle that can outperform our competitors.
Our Team Members
Our team comprises talented and dedicated individuals who are pursuing engineering degrees at Lakehead University. While most of our members are studying towards obtaining an engineering degree, we welcome students from all disciplines who share a passion for motorsports and a desire to contribute to our team’s success.
What sets our team members apart is their hands-on college degree. They have the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge they gain in the classroom to a real-world project. This practical experience allows them to develop valuable skills that cannot be taught solely through textbooks or lectures.
