The Lakehead University Formula SAE Race Car Team was established in 2007 and has since been competing against over one hundred other university teams from around the world. Our primary goal every year is to participate in the prestigious Michigan International Speedway event, and we are able to achieve this through the generous sponsorship and donations from companies and individuals who support our mission.
Our Mission
At Lakehead University Formula SAE Race Car Team, our mission is to provide a hands-on learning experience for our team members while they work towards obtaining an engineering degree from Lakehead University. By participating in the Formula SAE competition, we aim to foster a passion for engineering and automotive design, as well as develop the skills necessary for a successful career in the industry.
Our Team
Our team is comprised of dedicated individuals who are passionate about motorsports and engineering. Most of our team members are pursuing a hands-on college degree and are actively involved in the Lakehead University engineering program. We believe in the importance of practical experience and teamwork, and our members come from various engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering.
Throughout the year, our team members work collaboratively to design, build, and test a formula-style race car. This process involves various aspects of engineering, such as chassis design, powertrain development, aerodynamics, and electronics. Each team member is assigned a specific role based on their skills and interests, allowing them to gain practical knowledge in their respective areas of expertise.
