Welcome to Lakehead University Formula SAE Race Car Team!
Since its establishment in 2007, the Lakehead University Formula SAE Race Car Team has been actively competing against more than one hundred other university teams from all around the world. Our team’s primary objective is to participate in the annual competition held at the Michigan International Speedway, and we rely on the support of generous companies and individuals through sponsorships and donations to make this possible.
About Us
Our team is comprised of highly motivated individuals who are pursuing engineering degrees from Lakehead University. We are passionate about motorsports and strive to apply our theoretical knowledge in a practical setting through the design, construction, and racing of formula-style race cars.
Each year, we work tirelessly to design and build a high-performance race car that adheres to the rules and regulations set by the Formula SAE competition. This challenging task requires a multidisciplinary approach, as we combine our expertise in mechanical, electrical, and automotive engineering to create a well-rounded and competitive vehicle.
