Team Story

We held a great kickoff meeting for this team, handing over the team handbook and many other lessons learned.

Team selection was a slight challenge – some people decided not to join the team because they didn’t want to work on a particular subsystem.

This team built a lower frame, built a new intake, and found another exhaust to use. The team rocked the PE1 ECU once again.

Oliver brought his leadership experience and technical knowledge to be a good leader of the team.

Allen Pan helped the team again with his masterful onboard electronics skills.

Lessons Learned

  • Make sure your team leaders have a good rapport with the faculty advisors. Faculty advisors volunteer their time, and a good partnership helps to minimize their risks.
  • When degree project students sign up, try to manage who is doing what system based on a few different characteristics, like interest in the subsystem, experience with the subsystem, and course load. This transparent selection process will help students understand why it’s someone else (and not them) who gets Engine subsystem.
