Mechanical Engineering Intern

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at LUFASE, you will work closely with our design and fabrication teams to contribute to the development of our next-generation race car. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to gain practical experience in all aspects of race car design, from CAD modeling and simulation to fabrication and testing.


  • Collaborate with senior engineers and team members to develop innovative solutions for race car components and systems.
  • Utilize CAD software (such as SolidWorks) to create detailed 3D models and technical drawings of mechanical components.
  • Assist with the selection of materials and manufacturing processes to optimize performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness.


  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks or similar.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and design fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with machining, fabrication, or automotive systems is preferred but not required.


  • Gain hands-on experience in race car design, fabrication, and testing.
  • Work alongside experienced engineers and industry professionals.
  • Develop valuable technical and project management skills.
  • Represent Lakehead University in Formula SAE competitions.
