Jared Rooney took the lead

Competition Story

Between May 12-18 our team and the TWR-16 competed at the FSAE Michigan event.

The team performed admirably, after many long nights and lots of hard work, the team passed the technical inspections, tilt testing, and evacuation requirements with flying colours.

Overall, with the combined points from the tests and design, we placed 89th out of 128 teams registered. This was a 3 place improvement over the previous time the school competed, even without taking part in the driving events.

Given that this is a completely new team, on a relatively tiny budget, and little to no development input from previous years of cars, to have a fully functional, race ready car, we can all be proud of what we accomplished and we received tonnes of great feedback for our future cars!

Up next we will be continuing our race season with some autocross events in Terrace Bay Ontario! So watch for us at these events!

Lessons Learned

Unfortunately however, we hit a snag on the sound test, being only one decibel too loud to compete in the driving tests. Despite the team’s best efforts, we were unable to fix our issues in time to retake the test.
